That was over three months ago and all - [Ready to return to quilting](https://reproquiltlover.com/ready-to-return-to-quilting/): I've been missing for months from blogland and miss seeing what others are making and collecting along with doing my own quilting. The big day went off splendidly last Saturday so indulge me - [Bits of antiques](https://reproquiltlover.com/bits-of-antiques/): Not much going on here - it's hot, I'm busy with non-quilty things like work and an upcoming wedding (DS #1!). The theme was signature quilts and I am such a sucker for - [Unleash the Scraps!!](https://reproquiltlover.com/unleash-the-scraps/): When I saw Kathie's post today with photos of all of her 1.5" strips all I could think of was one of those cans of snakes that explode everywhere when you unscrew the lid. They looked like they were squiggling. She's looking for another project to use them and I thought turning them into 1" - [This going to take awhile](https://reproquiltlover.com/this-going-to-take-awhile/): This is a quick post so I can whine just a bit. You are forewarned. My hubby had an unexpected business trip this evening so I thought I was going to get lots of sewing done. Instead of tackling my list, though, I tried putting together one of the blocks for my son's quilt. Actually, - [Dear Jane!](https://reproquiltlover.com/dear-jane/): (photo courtesy Linda at Quilts in the Barn blog - used with permission) Have you ever had a dream - perhaps nightmare - where your shortcomings were right out in the open for all to see? I certainly understand why so many come - [Happy Birthday Dad - lazy days of summer kick off](https://reproquiltlover.com/happy-birthday-dad-lazy-days-of-summer-kick-off/): June 21 is the first day of summer, occasionally Father's Day, and my old dad's birthday. Today he would have been 90 if he had not spent the last 35 years in heaven. In this photo he is on the left and is with two of my mom's six brothers and his new father-in-law. For a - [Baltimore Album quilt revival - onto the fourth decade](https://reproquiltlover.com/baltimore-album-quilt-revival-onto-the-fourth-decade/): I am a proud member of the Baltimore Applique Society. I know I've mentioned it before but last night's meeting was one of the best I have attended. BAS is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013 and the program chair is doing a terrific job of securing speakers that could turn even the biggest applique - [A good week](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-good-week/): Normally, I like to keep this blog to quilting but once and awhile I gotta be a mom and show off the chicks. Our youngest had her Columbia University commencement last week. Can you tell she has a very proud papa? She's enjoyed her time in NYC. This fountain is a favorite site during her - [Paint by numbers](https://reproquiltlover.com/paint-by-numbers/): I finally got some quality quilty time this past long weekend. I fought the urge but had to start a new project just to kick start things again. Last month I had the pleasure of attending a lecture by Edyta Sitar and came away with such an urge to make half square triangles. I also - [You show me yours and I'll show you mine](https://reproquiltlover.com/you-show-me-yours-and-ill-show-you-mine/): I was chatting with Linda at Quilts in the Barn because she's been going gangbusters turning UFO's into quilts lately and I am both impressed and humbled. As I have mentioned dozens of times, I've been making stars. By hand, mind, but still just stars, stars, stars. My comment was that, yet again, my stash - [Scrap Happy](https://reproquiltlover.com/scrap-happy/): I really enjoyed the comments on my last post. It's good to know others have to work to tame the stash beast and some have been pretty successful at it. Your suggestions were helpful and motivated me to tackle some of my piles this week. Frances from Quilting Owl has a way to satisfy the urge - [Little repro and more of the stars](https://reproquiltlover.com/little-repro-and-more-of-the-stars/): A finish! When I was last at Temecula Quilt Company I saw a little quilt made mostly from Andover Fabrics' IQSC Square in Square line of fabrics. It is a reproduction of a little quilt that can be found in Sandy Fox's Small Endearments book. It was the perfect size for a (relatively) quick project - [Inspired by architecture](https://reproquiltlover.com/inspired-by-architecture/): No quilt activity here but I was excited to see Kathie's post today about quilting and applique inspiration she got from architecture on a trip to Boston. I saw it in December while volunteering at the Maryland Historical - [I'm late](https://reproquiltlover.com/im-late/): I finally got around to pulling the winners for the double book giveaway from my last post. Please forgive my tardiness. Life, family and work all have been demanding my time and attention lately. Without any further ado, the winners are Pleasentree and Heirlooms By Ashton House. Both winners have blogs this time but that - [Whoops!](https://reproquiltlover.com/whoops/): Sometimes I can get a little too excited about quilt books. There was a quilt I saw on an auction site that mentioned it was in the book "New Discoveries in American Quilts." Well, I missed the auction and couldn't afford the quilt anyway because it went for several thousands of dollars (although I thought - [Dear Jane weekend](https://reproquiltlover.com/dear-jane-weekend/): I remedied my block blunder from earlier this week and finished another D-6 in a fabric I like. D-7 And, I managed a little forward momentum so I kept working on Dear Jane blocks this weekend and finished D-7 (also hand pieced). E-8 I am avoiding paper piecing but not machine piecing. Rotary cutting E-8 - [Another 4 Dear Jane blocks and some hand sewing...](https://reproquiltlover.com/another-4-dear-jane-blocks-and-some-hand-sewing/): ...is what I've been doing in the way of quilting lately. This batch of four Dear Jane blocks took a little longer than the last four but they are now finished and I am pleased with the way they turned out. When I started this project more than 12 years ago I wasn't working full-time - [Sewing without opposable thumbs](https://reproquiltlover.com/sewing-without-opposable-thumbs/): Hand sewing without thumbs is not possible. Last night I learned that the little gizmo that holds vegetables in place on a mandoline (fancy food slicer for the non-cooks out there) isn't just for looks. And, you better use one if you are going to get carried away with the speed you can slice an - [March Madness](https://reproquiltlover.com/march-madness/): March Madness is what American college basketball fans call this time of year. I am not a basketball fan (that squeaking sound the shoes make drives me nuts) but I agree that this time of year is madness - at least for me. Work is busy. Fortunately, the quilt world does a terrific job of - [A finish](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-finish/): My version of Lori's "Pink Lemonade" quilt-a-long is finished! I really think that old gold fabric makes it look like a piece of an old quilt. I had intended to bind in it a brown fabric but that red was hanging around on my sewing table just asking to join in. The little red flowers - [Ready to fly](https://reproquiltlover.com/ready-to-fly/): Well, it's almost ready to fly...all the way to Australia for Quilts in the Barn 2012: An Exhibition of Red and White Quilts (including antique red and white quilts by Mary Koval). It just needs a label that commemorates the occasion and the woman in whose memory it was made. I don't usually do labels - [Slow down! You're going to hurt yourself!](https://reproquiltlover.com/slow-down-youre-going-to-hurt-yourself/): I don't like paper piecing and it doesn't like me. It takes more fabric, thread and time than "regular" methods. Every now and then I am enticed back to paper piecing by the notion that it is going to be faster than hand piecing and more accurate than machine piecing. Okay, for me the latter - ["Show me a full ballerina skirt with a hint of saloon and I'm on board."](https://reproquiltlover.com/show-me-a-full-ballerina-skirt-with-a-hint-of-saloon-and-im-on-board/): I couldn't help thinking of that line from the movie "Devil Wears Prada" when I saw this photo in the new book "Civil War Legacies" by Carol Hopkins (That Patchwork Place). Show me a photo of little quilts in a wood box with fabrics on top of more little quilts and I am on board. - [She made this...from that](https://reproquiltlover.com/she-made-this-from-that/): I shared the antique quilt below at a local quilt study group in October and blogged about it here. Jean Fries from Bellwether Dry Goods was inspired by it and made her own version which is photographed above. I really like it and she was kind enough to let me share it with you. The - [All I've done...](https://reproquiltlover.com/all-ive-done/): ...is piece these little houses from scraps. They are so fun and satisfying. You really can't go wrong combining the fabrics and I find hand stitching to be sooo relaxing. Maybe a little too relaxing since I am still having trouble with that whole stitching and snoring thing. Life's been busy lately and when I - [Mixing it up](https://reproquiltlover.com/mixing-it-up/): Happy 2012 to all of you! I hope that you are spending the dawn of this new year with those you love and cherish. I suspect that I am not alone in choosing a quiet evening at home in the company of my sewing machine. My hubby initiated himself in Pilates on Saturday morning and - [Repros: they all play well together](https://reproquiltlover.com/repros-they-all-play-well-together/): Don't you just hate throwing away any fabric scraps? Even the tiniest ones? Me too. When I was cutting out pieces for my tumbling blocks I had some leftovers big enough to squeeze out some squares in my favorite size, 1-1/4". I also was able to eek out some 7/8" x 1-1/4" rectangles which are - [Is this cute, or what?](https://reproquiltlover.com/is-this-cute-or-what/): The pincushion in a cup, not the photo on the left (although he is definitely adorable). Somehow, I wound up on Etsy last weekend and came across these "tiny world" pincushions made by a dollmaker named Mimi Kirchner. She uses old teacups and wool to make, well, tiny worlds. Love them. Couldn't resist so I - [Need to go tanning](https://reproquiltlover.com/need-to-go-tanning/): No, I won't be squeezing into those funny space capsule things. I need to tan my stash. I knew when I saw this Courthouse Steps doll quilt here that I had to make one of my own. I've been doing a lot of piecing with color and had an urge to tone things down for - [Little House from Scraps](https://reproquiltlover.com/little-house-from-scraps/): Note that scraps are plural and house is singular. I decided hand piecing these little cuties was the best method for me but it definitely isn't the fastest. I didn't want to go to bed last night without at least starting my first block no matter how tired I was. The problem with that was - [Sweet Tea with Lemon](https://reproquiltlover.com/sweet-tea-with-lemon/): This is my version of Lori's latest quilt along (Pink Lemonade). I have been wanting to make a gold and brown quilt out of reproduction fabrics and this was just the pattern. Like Kathie, I reduced the size of the quilt to include just the whole blocks. The yellow is an old Judie Rothermel Baltimore - [Quilting and philosophizing](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilting-and-philosophizing/): Forgive me if I get a little introspective here. I was puttering in my sewing room (aka my corner of the laundry room) a couple of days ago. I took a small finished top off the "design flannel" and was rearranging some pieces that have been hanging up there for ages to make way for - [Scale](https://reproquiltlover.com/scale/): This is an antique quilt I bought fairly recently. I bought it from photos but the dealer is excellent so when she says something is impressive, I believe her. I may have mentioned my affinity for Lemoyne Stars once or twice (or more) before so you can see why this quilt appealed to me despite - [A quilter's wish list](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-quilters-wish-list/): I went to the Baltimore Applique Society meeting last Wednesday and did a little shopping for myself. I thought I would share my goodies with you because they would be great to add to a personal Christmas list or make good gifts for the quilters in your life. BAS has reprint the Elizabeth MacCullough Hervey - [Kindness of Quilters](https://reproquiltlover.com/kindness-of-quilters/): I've been under the weather most of November. I won't bore you with details or my downer attitude but, for a bit, I'd even lost my quilter mojo. At one point, I toyed with the thought of downsizing the stash. See? It was serious. Then, this past weekend I was having a bowl of soup - [Look what came in the mail!! (and giveaway)](https://reproquiltlover.com/look-what-came-in-the-mail-and-giveaway/): I was so excited to open a squishy envelope and find this great needlekeeper from Teresa W. I have to confess something, though. She sent it about 3 months ago and I only just opened the mail. I've been receiving several block of the month, mini of the month and a quarterly (or something) shipment - [Giveaway winner and new project](https://reproquiltlover.com/giveaway-winner-and-new-project/): I did the random number generator thing on Friday morning and Annette is the lucky winner of the kit. I always felt like I was at a disadvantage if I was the first commentor on a giveaway but Annette's win proves that fear baseless. She was the first to leave a comment and she now - [Nervously riding out Irene](https://reproquiltlover.com/nervously-riding-out-irene/): I am trying to distract myself from the ferocious wind and rain outside tonight. These are my first four star blocks in the Stars and Sprigs quilt I mentioned in my last post. I would like to do an applique block but I am a bit too tense for that. I am grateful we don't - [Take along applique kit](https://reproquiltlover.com/take-along-applique-kit/): I love pretty storage. I guess that's because I have a lot of stuff and if it isn't stored well it is difficult to appreciate and enjoy that stuff. I found the perfect storage solution for my "sprigs" applique project at the Vera Bradley store. This is their Mini Hanging Organizer and it is just - [Who's cruising now?](https://reproquiltlover.com/whos-cruising-now/): Me, that's who! I complained in my last post about how I felt like I was all thumbs stitching on my little sprigs applique blocks. When I mentioned to Janet (Quiltsalott) that I thought part of the problem was the silk thread I was using, she directed me to a Youtube video on how to - [I missed you guys!](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-missed-you-guys/): It's been about a month since I posted and just as long since I've done some serious blog reading and commenting. June was a busy travel month - some of it was fun and more of it was work. The fun part was in Surfside, South Carolina with my family (see last post) and I - [Bernie's in rehab](https://reproquiltlover.com/bernies-in-rehab/): I also thought about titling this one "If it's a national holiday then something's going to break." I had Big Plans for doing some quilting over the Memorial Day holiday weekend at the end of May. But, our air conditioner went on the fritz at the same time Mother Nature sent us record heat for - [Nothing Fancy](https://reproquiltlover.com/nothing-fancy/): This is my favorite summer quilt. Hands down. It is vintage but in good enough shape to use. The Dresden Plate blocks are all hand pieced and the quilt is very nicely hand quilted. This quilt is soft and the batting is thin. The blue centers and occasional red and white petals remind me a - [Getting out of my own way](https://reproquiltlover.com/getting-out-of-my-own-way/): Excuse me, coming through, step aside, out of my way please. Boy, life can certainly get in the way. Work, chores, responsibilities all conspire to keep us from what we really want to do...quilt!! It all got so frustrating for me that I couldn't sew even when I did find a bit of time. To - [Time for some BLUE and white](https://reproquiltlover.com/time-for-some-blue-and-white/): I have a finish!! This is the blue and white star quilt I first posted about here, but taken to a whole new level by some outstanding quilting. I can say that without blushing because it isn't my outstanding quilting. I picked this little (I am considering 35"x 43" to be little) beauty up from - [Rouge et blanc; Rode en witte; Blanquirrojo](https://reproquiltlover.com/rouge-et-blanc-rode-en-witte-blanquirrojo/): Quilters love squishy envelopes in the mailbox. It is even better when the squishy envelope is a generous gift. Kathie sent some ecology cloth which I think is the perfect "white" for a vintage looking red and white quilt. Thanks Kathie!! I saw an adorable doll quilt when I visited the Greenwich (Connecticut) Historical Society - [Flower garden block #2](https://reproquiltlover.com/flower-garden-block-2/): I finished block number 2! That officially puts me on a roll. At least, if there were an official quilt block accreditation body it would definitely officially put me on a roll. Anyway, I did finish my second block and it is blissfully flat which always makes me feel like an accomplished appliquer. So, I - [Flower Garden Block #3](https://reproquiltlover.com/flower-garden-block-3/): I am so glad to have this flower garden project. It is quick to prep - particularly when you compare to a Balimore Album or Civil War Bride block - and fun to stitch with its easy curves and fun fabrics. I really like polka dots and it is hard not to add some to - [Surfing for inspiration](https://reproquiltlover.com/surfing-for-inspiration/): Do you ever have those days (weeks, months) where, despite a stunning stash, inspiration just won't come? That's where I am now. Sure, I've got a few (dozen) projects on the go so I am still doing some stitching. But, the excitement just isn't there. I need to find a new project to start. I've - [Red and White Quilt Exhibit - Bloggers living vicariously!!](https://reproquiltlover.com/red-and-white-quilt-exhibit-bloggers-living-vicariously/): It is an understatement to say that the quilt world is abuzz about the upcoming exhibit at the American Folk Art Musem in NYC, "Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts." I've read about quilters worldwide who are making a special trip just to take in this show (now that is dedication!). Others - [I did not see this one coming](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-did-not-see-this-one-coming/): Last week I was pouting in my sewing room because my break from work was almost over and I had not done a lick of sewing. My mood was dark. I blamed the holidays. I blamed the family. I blamed work because I only had two weeks off instead of three. Reason counted for nothing. - [Red and White Gift](https://reproquiltlover.com/red-and-white-gift/): Thanks to everyone who has added links to their red and white quilts and also to those who have commented! I am thoroughly enjoying seeing your treasures and reading their stories. You can link to the post with the Red and White online exhibit HERE. Remember, you can keep adding quilts through March 30. I - [More Red and White Quilts - Hooray!](https://reproquiltlover.com/more-red-and-white-quilts-hooray/): Paula (no blog) also sent me great pictures of her red and white quilts to share with everyone. I am putting them in two posts so they can both show up in the exhibit links. They deserve to be showcased - they're that good! Reminder: Visit the Red and White Online Exhibit HERE I almost - [More Red and White Quilts - part 2](https://reproquiltlover.com/more-red-and-white-quilts-part-2/): I might have mentioned once (or twice) how much I love house quilts and when I saw Paula's version I started planning one like it of my own. Are these pieced mansions or perhaps multi-family dwellings? Her quilt pictured above is actually a small version of a Schoolhouse quilt made in NY or Pennsylvania around - [Oh no she didn't!](https://reproquiltlover.com/oh-no-she-didnt/): Yup, I did. Just a quick post to say I've been sucked into the gorgeous bright designs by Kim McLean and here is my first block for the Flower Garden quilt. I had to go with the brights as a way to put some cheer into what had become an interminable winter but now that - [Applique is slow](https://reproquiltlover.com/applique-is-slow/): This is my contribution to the next Baltimore Applique Society raffle quilt. It is nearly finished. Good thing because I am already 10 days past the deadline. I had months to do it but of course waited until the last minute to start since it looked like a pretty easy block. And it is. But, - ["Welcome Home" to beautiful recycling](https://reproquiltlover.com/welcome-home-to-beautiful-recycling/): When Barbara Burnham read that I love house quilts she was kind enough to share her masterpiece pictured above. Her quilt, titled Welcome Home, was included in Mimi Dietrich's book, Bed and Breakfast Quilts (That Patchwork Place, 2003). "Welcome Home" detail This quilt is the perfect combination of old and new. Barbara found the blue - [Bring on the resolutions and the stretch pants!](https://reproquiltlover.com/bring-on-the-resolutions-and-the-stretch-pants/): What are the resolutions most quilters make every year? Complete the UFO's, use up more of the stash, don't start so many new projects, don't buy so much new fabric, right? I am right there with you, but I think we should all accentuate the positive. Most of us refer to our piles of fabric - [Wool kit winner!](https://reproquiltlover.com/wool-kit-winner/): Thank you to all of you for leaving such nice comments and I really wish I had a kit for everyone. I couldn't leave it to the impersonal random number generator and I couldn't take the pressure of picking a name out of the basket myself so picking the winner was the first duty of - [Quilt Study: Pink and Brown Stars](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilt-study-pink-and-brown-stars/): Join me in examining my newest antique quilt acquisition. I collect what I like without special regard to pattern, color or condition and am particularly excited by this one. It is the first antique I have that is in pink and brown. Just think, there was a quilter running around 100+ years ago who also - [Applique is NOT like riding a bike...](https://reproquiltlover.com/applique-is-not-like-riding-a-bike/): At least it isn't for me. I haven't ridden a bike in a couple of years but I could hop on one right now and cruise like a pro. Not so with applique. It's only been several weeks since I last appliqued but I was all thumbs when I picked up my first "sprigs" block. - [Historical Societies are a treasure trove](https://reproquiltlover.com/historical-societies-are-a-treasure-trove/): The Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) in Baltimore, Maryland, owns the largest collection of Baltimore Album quilts. Lucky me, I live just outside of Baltimore and had the pleasure of participating in an excellent quilt program there this past weekend. Actually, it is a two part program so I'll be back there next Saturday, too. Phyllis - [Please Jo, may we have some more? (and giveaway winner)](https://reproquiltlover.com/please-jo-may-we-have-some-more-and-giveaway-winner/): My favorite remedy to stress is a session in my sewing cave with a good book on my ipod and lots of different repro scraps to play with. The result of such a therapy session is pictured above; my version of the Stacked Coins quilt from Kathleen Tracy's Remembering Adelia book. Most of the little - [Guilty Pleasures mini quilt giveaway](https://reproquiltlover.com/guilty-pleasures-mini-quilt-giveaway/): I have a confession...in December my work gets rather hectic and prevents me from truly savoring the holiday spirit. So, sometimes I will stop at Starbucks before I head home from work and buy myself a peppermint mocha or a hot chocolate in their festive holiday cups and sip it as I listen to classical - [Son of House Block](https://reproquiltlover.com/son-of-house-block/): Son of House Block The house quilt currently in my blog header is one I've long wanted to reproduce but have only gotten as far as the single block at the top of this post. I was playing around with my red and green fabrics this weekend (cannot stop with those colors) and instead of - [Phew!!](https://reproquiltlover.com/phew/): Since my last post (the one where I said I would announce the little quilt give away winner) I was slammed at work trying to get ready to be off for two weeks, slammed by the realization that on December 20 I had not begun to get ready for Christmas and slammed by Christmas cooking, - [Whimsy, Wacky or Whatever?](https://reproquiltlover.com/whimsy-wacky-or-whatever/): What do I do when I want to post about all my quilting endeavors but the quilting endeavors are scant? I show you an antique quilt because those are what this blog is really all about anyway. You know the saying, "nothing new under the sun," right? Well that is particularly true when one is - [Okay, I am ready to cut the red fabric](https://reproquiltlover.com/okay-i-am-ready-to-cut-the-red-fabric/): Last month I was able to visit many wonderful quilt shops around the U.S. and bought lots of reproduction fabrics. Maybe I should even say I bought LOTS and LOTS of reproduction fabrics. Hey, no time to sew but plenty of time to stock up. Fat Quarters Quilt Shop in Vista, California had a good - [Quilt Tastykakes](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilt-tastykakes/): Sometimes if you want cake, you shop for ingredients, read the recipe, measure and mix, and wait for the final product to bake and cool. Other times, you just want cake, quick and easy. So you open the box of yummy Tastykakes (this is where I would put the registered trademark symbol if I knew - ['Tis the season for a giveaway and other stuff](https://reproquiltlover.com/tis-the-season-for-a-giveaway-and-other-stuff/): 'Tis the time to seize the season. I love the time from Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Year's because it's family time and it's quilting time. So, let's celebrate with some quilting giveaways. I am kicking off December by giving away the very mini but festive little quilt pictured above. I whipped this little top - [The Wall of Tops is on the Floor](https://reproquiltlover.com/the-wall-of-tops-is-on-the-floor/): My wall of quilts is still under construction. Here is an assortment of the tops I've finished. Looks like I need to get busy doing some quilting. For the particularly scrappy ones I prefer the all over little stipple. Lazy me would love to have a pro do it but the $50 minimum is steep - [Star of LeMoyne, LeMoyne Star, Lemon Star](https://reproquiltlover.com/star-of-lemoyne-lemoyne-star-lemon-star/): Whatever you call the traditional eight-pointed star, it's delicious. I am still working on hand piecing my own "Lemon Stars" (I love that version of the name) but progress has slowed - more on that below. Thanks to Kathie and Victoria, I found out about the quilt exhibit at the American Folk Art Museum when - [Red, Light and Boo Hoo Hoo](https://reproquiltlover.com/red-light-and-boo-hoo-hoo/): On Memorial Day weekend (ceremonial official start of summer in U.S.) I decided I wanted to make a new red, white and blue quilt for summer. On the July 4 weekend (ceremonial peak of summer in U.S.) I decided to name it "Red Light and Blue." Now, it is the Labor Day weekend (ceremonial close - [Oh, nuts.](https://reproquiltlover.com/oh-nuts/): It has been a goal/dream/fantasy of mine to create a wall of little quilts (several blogs have featured photos of these but I can't find them right now-sorry!). So I've worked my way to that goal by making quite a few little quilts. The problem is, most have been scrappy with dark colors being dominant - [A sewing weekend - process report](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-sewing-weekend-process-report/): Well, Mother Nature had plans for me this weekend that did not include a trip to the Sully quilt show. You might say, she sullied my plans by sending us rain. (It's a terrible pun, I know) So nice of her to bookend a dreary rainy Sunday with two perfectly beautiful days. Okay, it was - [Baltimore Album redux](https://reproquiltlover.com/baltimore-album-redux/): I must be channeling Kathie. Like her, the red and green quilts have been whispering in my ear lately. I've been pouring over my books on red, green and applique quilts and they are so inspiring. I used to scorn applique both because I had failed in several attempts to master it and the examples - [Blue and White quilts](https://reproquiltlover.com/blue-and-white-quilts/): I love blue and white quilts--especially those that are hand quilted. A few posts ago I showed my start on an smallish Ohio Star I am making out of indigo and white. I made a little progress (at last!) but my camera is currently with my daughter on a trip to Africa. Instead, I am - [Touch the Stars](https://reproquiltlover.com/touch-the-stars/): And a giveaway (read to the bottom to see what that is)! Despite the fact that I haven't sat in front of my sewing machine yet this summer, I found a project that lets me enjoy the creative outlet and relaxation that stitching allows me. I am hand piecing 3.25" Lemoyne Stars. My goal is - [Sully Historic Site Quilt Show and Sale is September 12!](https://reproquiltlover.com/sully-historic-site-quilt-show-and-sale-is-september-12/): September in the Washington, DC area brings some of the best weather of the year and one way to really enjoy it is to see brightly colored quilts waving in the breeze at the Sully Historic Site's Annual Quilt Show and Sale. This year's show is scheduled for Sunday, September 12 from 10am to 4:30pm - [Sewing kit giveaway WINNER and new (old) quilt](https://reproquiltlover.com/sewing-kit-giveaway-winner-and-new-old-quilt/): Thank you to everyone who left such nice comments on my Lemoyne Star post. I wish I could send all of you the little sewing kit but I only have one (for now!) and I did the random number generator thingy and it came up with number 16, which is the comment from Gayle from - [What she said](https://reproquiltlover.com/what-she-said/): I was holding off posting hoping to finally have a finished (by me) quilt to show but this has been a no-quilting summer. Sigh. So, I thought I’d cover my inadequacies by pulling out my celebrity look alike quilts. When I saw Kathie's latest published quilt it made me think of this red, green and - [Quilting Diary](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilting-diary/): Three weeks ago, Barbara Brackman wrote on her blog about sewing diaries from the 18th and 19th centuries. How pleasant to find women from 100-150 years ago who love fabric much like I do. For almost fifteen years I have been talking to myself in the pages of my own quilt diaries. It is fun - [Make it work](https://reproquiltlover.com/make-it-work/): Sometimes I go through periods when I buy fabric. Sometimes it is a lot of fabric. I blame the designers. They make pretty fabric. And then those fabrics go out of print. So it makes me worry. What if...I come up with an idea for the world's most amazing pattern? Don't I need to have - [Chicago Int'l Quilt Festival 2010](https://reproquiltlover.com/chicago-intl-quilt-festival-2010/): I made my second annual trip to the Chicago International Quilt Festival yesterday. It's a treat I give myself as my super busy time at work wraps up on the 15th (no I'm not an accountant). I kiss my family goodbye and turn off my phone and email and head to the quilt mecca of - [Star of the East - Chicago Antiques part 2](https://reproquiltlover.com/star-of-the-east-chicago-antiques-part-2/): This is the second of the two magnificent quilts that greeted us as we entered the Chicago quilt show. It is titled "Star of the East" (c. 1870) for the spectacular fabrics from which it is made that are likely from the eastern seaboard of the U.S. The information sheet says that the fabrics are - [19th C. Folk Art - Chicago 3](https://reproquiltlover.com/19th-c-folk-art-chicago-3/): Narrative wise, there isn't much I can add to this one. The descriptive sign read: "19th Century Folk Art by Maker Unknown. Hand pieced and appliqued using a huge variety of natural dyed fabrics." There's a tragedy. The maker has disappeared to obscurity and the gorgeous fabrics are simply called 'natural dyed.' This one was - [Chicago 4 - Chips and Whetstones with Oak Leaves - And a Really Cute Border](https://reproquiltlover.com/chicago-4-chips-and-whetstones-with-oak-leaves-and-a-really-cute-border/): Okay, I added that last part about the border. This quilt is my particular favorite. I just like the colors, pattern and the novel border (and the poison green fabric). Here are detail photos of the applique on the borders of this quilt. This is my favorite part...looks to me like little girls jumping rope. - [Little antique doll quilt!](https://reproquiltlover.com/little-antique-doll-quilt/): Today's post is just a quickie to share my new little treasure. I couldn't resist buying this little 20"x21" cutie. It appears to be hand pieced and is machine quilted with no batting. I don't think it was cut down because the binding is the same fabric as used in the top. I think it - [The funnest weekend](https://reproquiltlover.com/the-funnest-weekend/): When my younger son was little, he would sometimes say at the end of a very good day, "Mom, this was the funnest day." Well, back at the end of February, Jo Morton came to town to teach workshops and speak at my guild - The Annapolis Quilt Guild. I had the pleasure of meeting - [Excellent suggestion, Mr. Amazon](https://reproquiltlover.com/excellent-suggestion-mr-amazon/): If you shop for books on sites like Amazon or Barnes and Noble, you know they provide helpful book suggestions based on the titles you view (yeah, it's a bit stalker-ish) and also some "package" deals. After my visit to Mary Koval's house, I had an insatiable urge for some new books about antique quilts. - [There is more!](https://reproquiltlover.com/there-is-more/): This is the first quilt you encounter when you enter Mary's home. Don't you love the bench she has in front of it? Since her home (an old restored church) has an open plan, you can also see this work of art from her second floor office. What an inspiration! This old broderie perse beauty - [Is this heaven?](https://reproquiltlover.com/is-this-heaven/): No, it's Schellsburg, PA and the home of Mary Koval (expert on antique quilts, collector, dealer, author and fabric designer for Windham). Last Saturday I joined members of the Baltimore Applique Society (BAS) at Mary's home for an exclusive look at some of the exquisite quilts from her collection and a chance to shop from - [Snow days = Sew days](https://reproquiltlover.com/snow-days-sew-days/): Thanks to Mother Nature I've enjoyed three days (and counting) of quality time with my quilting. I finally finished "Leftovers," a Jo Morton design. This is made from, what else, the leftovers of the "Somerset" pattern that was a Jo's Little Women club project a few cycles ago. I made the big top (see picture - [Cheddar Cheese & Crackers top done and a giveaway](https://reproquiltlover.com/cheddar-cheese-crackers-top-done-and-a-giveaway/): My Cheddar Cheese and Crackers doll quilt top is done! This was fun and easy (especially since I went with the same colors as Lori used) and entirely from my stash. It took me longer to figure out how to get a picture of it that wasn't blurry than it did to make it. I - [The winner is...](https://reproquiltlover.com/the-winner-is/): Janet from Mrs. Sew n' Sew blog wins my extra kit for the Cheddar and Crackers doll quilt. Congrats, Janet! Email me with your address and I'll post the kit to you in Canada this week. I was on a stitching and quilting roll last weekend but I hit the wall with this little project. - [Not much getting done here](https://reproquiltlover.com/not-much-getting-done-here/): January means no more fun with family and back to work. Not much sewing going on right now, but I did make sure to start my new projects for the new year. Here is block 1 of my calendar quilt and I am almost done the first part of Lori's doll quilt project. How - [And they're off...](https://reproquiltlover.com/and-theyre-off/): Do you make New Year resolutions? I like to tell myself I do not. After all, I smugly tell myself, I am not one of those people newly jamming the gym in January. I started back to exercising two weeks ago. Hmph. Do you promise yourself you will use more fabric from your stash instead - [Blog you very much](https://reproquiltlover.com/blog-you-very-much/): About one year ago I discovered the many joys of the quilt blog universe. I just want to thank all of you fellow bloggers for your inspiration and ideas you share on your blogs and for your comments on mine. I didn't even know blogs existed when I was googling images for a scrap quilt - [Civil War workout](https://reproquiltlover.com/civil-war-workout/): This is a pattern called Civil War Star by Bits 'n Pieces. It is a project that I started years ago and I can only call it "a mission." A guild I belonged to adapted it as a raffle quilt and when I saw it I was smitten. The prints are from the first Judie - [A little of this and even littler of that](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-little-of-this-and-even-littler-of-that/): I love to make little quilts. Note, when I refer to little quilts I do not mean miniature quilts. I admire the skill and precision involved in making miniature quilts, but I prefer something that looks more like a piece of the full-size quilt as opposed to the exact replica of the big one wrought - [Repro fabric glamor shot](https://reproquiltlover.com/repro-fabric-glamor-shot/): I've been waiting for the fabrics in Judie Rothermel's Civil War Tribute line for a l-o-n-g time. A lot of these beauties were first printed as part of her Civil War I group and I started a quilt with them many years ago. They were the subject of one of those frantic fabric hunting expeditions - [I am in control of this fabric!](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-am-in-control-of-this-fabric/): Years ago, I took an excellent Baltimore applique class from Mimi Dietrich. The most memorable lesson for me was when she was demonstrating how to handle that excess fabric that bunches up at the points of leaves. She showed us how to stitch up to the point, take a single stitch at the point and - [Fabric-ation](https://reproquiltlover.com/fabric-ation/): Most of my days consist of dozens of emails, telephone messages, meetings, questions without easy answers and talking, talking, talking. This doesn't leave much time for myself and I know many of you are in the same situation. While we are more connected to the rest of the world than ever before, our minds and - [Let me sleep on it](https://reproquiltlover.com/let-me-sleep-on-it/): I was a total grump this weekend. Let me blame it on six straight days of rain, too long away from my sewing room and guilt. As you can see from my last post, I went on a bit of a fabric bender the last few weeks and months and had no sewing to show - [Drumroll please...I have a finished quilt](https://reproquiltlover.com/drumroll-please-i-have-a-finished-quilt/): At long last I have a newly finished quilt. One of my favorite color combinations is pink and brown, but after finishing this one, I think I'll move onto another palette for awhile. I wouldn't call it a stash buster, but I did make most of it from fabrics I had on hand. I - [Spring into Fall](https://reproquiltlover.com/spring-into-fall/): This is the summer that wasn't. When the warm breezes were blowing and the flowers were blooming I put away my darker 19th century repro fabrics and took out the bright pastels of the 1930's. And there they sat...and sat...and sat. I started this quilt years ago and it is responsible for the explosion - [NYC](https://reproquiltlover.com/nyc/): I love New York. Everytime I visit, I wish I lived there. But, this view out of my hotel window left me wondering that, if I did live in the city, would I wind up like these trees straining to find the sun? Who knows...but I do love to visit and will do so as - [Kim Diehl class](https://reproquiltlover.com/kim-diehl-class/): I took a fun workshop on Monday with quilt author and designer, Kim Diehl. The project was her pattern, Bittersweet Briar. I never worked with wool before so I thought a class would be a better way than trial and error to learn how to work with the stuff. Kim did not disappoint and it - [Are you ready for some football?](https://reproquiltlover.com/are-you-ready-for-some-football/): Those of you who have football (American) watching husbands will find my title phrase familiar. I get excited when the weather turns cooler and college and professional football comes back to television because that means quilting time for me! The hubby likes to spend a Sunday afternoon relaxing in front of the telly watching games - [My pot of gold IS the rainbow](https://reproquiltlover.com/my-pot-of-gold-is-the-rainbow/): Recently I discovered a treasure right under my nose. I was straightening my sewing area and happened upon a large plastic container with many leftover pieces of reproduction fabrics. Since I've only recently gotten back into quilting after a many years break, I'd forgotten I saved my scraps so diligently (guess I couldn't even part - [Quilt Study and Houston bound](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilt-study-and-houston-bound/): I heard an interesting story when I showed this quilt at the most recent meeting of the Virginia Quilt Dating Club and someone spotted the lone gold square. See photo below. She related a theory that women, who could not vote at the time, included a single gold square in their 1880's/1890's quilt as a - [Just can't let it go](https://reproquiltlover.com/just-cant-let-it-go/): I cannot let go of the red and white quilt bug. That show back in March made such an impression on me. This is a photo of the antique red and white quilt I just bought. When I don't have time to sew (and I haven't for ages) I gravitate to antique quilt shopping instead. - [Drought](https://reproquiltlover.com/drought/): I have been experiencing all kinds of droughts lately...it's been over a month since my last post (blog drought), I haven't bought fabric in ages (stash drought), no sewing by hand or machine (quilting drought), haven't had a chance to check in on others blogs for fun and inspiration (quilting community drought)...you get the picture. - [Finishes - some small; some big](https://reproquiltlover.com/finishes-some-small-some-big/): I finally have something to show off. I finished the two small tops (tumblers and little triangles) I posted about a couple months ago. Here they are along with another small quilt (from a pattern in an old "Miniature Quilts" magazine), a little pincushion and a top from a Jo Morton LWC pattern. Below - [Back in the day, the quilts were big](https://reproquiltlover.com/back-in-the-day-the-quilts-were-big/): I've been admiring the lovely pastel 30's reproduction fabrics Kathie has been using and am inspired to lighten things up for spring (oops, it's nearly summer). Here is a stack of a couple of antiques and a couple of my own oldies. I have my 30's repro fabrics out and have asked them to get - [Persevere](https://reproquiltlover.com/persevere/): Persevere [pur-suh-veer] verb: to persist in anything undertaken; maintain a purpose in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement; continue steadfastly. The nine-patches in this antique quilt are 1.5 inches square and they are all hand pieced. There are 11,600 pieces in the quilt! The maker of this quilt really knew how to maintain her - [The boys graduate from college](https://reproquiltlover.com/the-boys-graduate-from-college/): Time has flown by since my last post. I work at a large state university and the end of the semester is always a hectic time. This year more so than usual. BOTH of my sons finished their bachelors' degrees this spring and hubby and I had the enormous pleasure of watching them graduate - [I keep making a "Trip Around the World"](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-keep-making-a-trip-around-the-world/): Recently, Kathie asked if anyone made series of quilts. I didn't think I had until I was inspired by Karen to take a good look at my own collection of finished and unfinished quilts. I have made a series of the "Trip Around the World" design. It was one of the first patterns I - [Day Trip: The Chicago International Quilt Festival](https://reproquiltlover.com/day-trip-the-chicago-international-quilt-festival/): As I mentioned in my last post, last Friday I took a trip to my first "major" quilt show. The show was very good and the vendor section was great. Never having been to Houston or Paducah, I don't know how it stacks up to other national shows, but it was enough to satisfy - [RIP...My big bag of new Judie Rothermel fabrics](https://reproquiltlover.com/rip-my-big-bag-of-new-judie-rothermel-fabrics/): Friday was a very fun day for me because I went to the International Quilt Festival (more on that in my next post) in Chicago. But, Saturday, I discovered I suffered a sad loss somewhere on my trip home. As you know, I LOVE reproduction quilts and reproduction fabrics. Naturally, the Judie Rothermel designs for - [I have pics!](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-have-pics/): I finally figured out that camera and got busy stitching. Yay! I am working on the pattern Tribute to Judie by Carol Hopkins Designs. I joined a block of the month club through a mail order quilt shop (that shall remain nameless for now) and get 7 to 8 "star kits" every month. I - [Do you like stuffing?](https://reproquiltlover.com/do-you-like-stuffing/): Above is a photo of nearly the entire quilt compliments of the panorama feature of my iphone so it looks a little skewed. But I wanted you to get a feel for the size of this magnificent quilt - and don't forget there are FOUR of them. More of the lovely Amelia's lovely quilt. The - [Doing some sewing](https://reproquiltlover.com/doing-some-sewing/): It's finished! My little "Cheri" quilt was hand quilted by Bellwether last year but was left unbound until last weekend. Having hand quilted quilts - no matter how small - hanging around in that unbound state makes one feel a little guilty. And not in the guilty pleasure sort of way. So, finally, I cleaned - [Antique quilts](https://reproquiltlover.com/antique-quilts/): I was looking forward to sharing more pictures of great museum quilts from another DAR session this week. But, Mother Nature decided to dump snow on the DC area and when that happens everything halts around here. So, the museum was closed and I missed out on something I've been looking forward to more than - [Stars Fragmented](https://reproquiltlover.com/stars-fragmented/): Stars fragmented is not a style it's just the reality of my photographs. I participated in another DAR quilt study session last week and these old quilts are so big it is difficult to get a good photo of the whole thing. So, we must settle for fragments of them Since I am listing my - [I Quilt for Me](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-quilt-for-me/): I've been reading comments on electronic media and have been struck by how much negativity and guilt is connected with an avocation so many of us love. Which is why I chose the title, “I quilt for me,” for this blog post. (Note: I am peppering this post with great quilt pics so you can - [Apple Pie Ridge](https://reproquiltlover.com/apple-pie-ridge/): Quilts were displayed in themes throughout the house: pink and green, signature, applique, family, local (Winchester/Frederick County), and utilitarian I just finished another fantastic quilt history/appreciation weekend. The Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society (in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley) presented "A Focus on Quilts from the Lower Shenandoah Valley." For those familiar with the pattern, this is - [Do you have a "go to" quilt?](https://reproquiltlover.com/do-you-have-a-go-to-quilt/): I am enjoying some family time, some "me" time, and some sewing time this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. My sewing and cutting tables were (still are) covered with piles of fabrics, pieces of projects, other sewing miscellany, and DUST. I can usually measure my sewing progress by my number of blog posts and 2014 has a - [Red and Green Applique](https://reproquiltlover.com/64/): It's getting close to Christmas so not much time for sewing these days. I just wanted to share my bit of red and green gloriousness. I am not certain about the name but did a little asking around and the consensus was Prairie Rose. - [I Love Quilters](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-love-quilters/): I happened upon this little surprise today. I was all alone (fine by me) and wasn't in Chi-town for the show but it was a very happy coincidence. When I was leaving the show after they closed tonight I ran into a lady steering her wheely cart with what had to be her machine. We - [Progress!](https://reproquiltlover.com/progress/): The stash monster has escaped. I might not have time to sew but my favorite reproduction manufacturers keep printing great lines of fabrics so I keep acquiring them. Problem is, when I buy them without a specific project or purpose I only get small pieces suitable for scrappy projects. I like to keep them visible - [Quilts](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilts/): I don't have much to say today but was inspired by Lucy's simple post of a pile of her quilts. As she says, "never get tired of them." I did finish an applique block last night and will post a photo after I give it a wash and press it so it looks all pretty. - [Bath Day!](https://reproquiltlover.com/bath-day/): I finished the third block from the Benjamin Biggs block of the month. The quilt is a reproduction block of the month pattern from "Just Takes Two" (Gay Bomers and Brenda Papadakis). They provide a block pattern each month for free and then the blocks are available for purchase on their website. The program started last - [I wasn't going there but....](https://reproquiltlover.com/i-wasnt-going-there-but/): If you are a quilter who "hangs out" with other quilters on a variety of social media you may have seen a burst of interest in four patch quilts along with the hashtag #apqquiltalong. Apparently American Patchwork & Quilting magazine is publishing four (three?) 4-patch patterns in its current issue and encouraging quilters to join - [Can you imagine...](https://reproquiltlover.com/can-you-imagine/): Can you imagine if you were one of the circle of quilters that sat down to the frame to help...let's call her Eliza...Eliza to quilt her quilt and she said this is what she was planning? Basically, our girl Eliza told the rest of the group they were going to cover the entire top with - [Who done it?](https://reproquiltlover.com/who-done-it/): It took me four months but I finally finished Benjamin Biggs block #5. And then it was hit by vandals. Nasty red ones. Something bled but I'm not sure if it was the red print or the red thread. I've used the red thread in other blocks but I soaked this one longer -- I - [If not now, when?](https://reproquiltlover.com/if-not-now-when/): That is not a typo - I eagerly made this small quilt last January (2015) with the intention of sharing the pattern with my blog friends. But..I thought if I wanted things to be perfect, I should quilt and bind it. I think this little quilt messed with my quilting karma all last year. I - [A little what-not](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-little-what-not/): Do you find yourself taking a vacation from what you "should" be doing? I am guessing you do. A while back I was hand stitching "little houses from scraps" using blue (sky) for background and a yellow to represent a light in the window. But, for some reason, I made three with a light shirting - [Details](https://reproquiltlover.com/details/): Ask an antique quilt lover what is the advantage to living near Baltimore, Maryland, and I suspect she would say...Baltimore album quilts. I seize the opportunity to see them every chance I get. My favorite part of seeing them "in the flesh" is taking in the fabrics, quilting designs, techniques, and stitching. Today I am - [Details Details](https://reproquiltlover.com/details-details/): What is your favorite thing to find in an old quilt? My top three are: trapunto, dates, and signatures. So, today's details are all about the signatures (and some other inkings). I took all the photos for this post at the Lovely Lane event I attended on Sunday and they are from Baltimore album quilts - [Sometimes...](https://reproquiltlover.com/sometimes/): ...you just have to drop everything and start a new project. And sometime you have to know when it is time to walk away for awhile. I subscribe to the Temecula Quilt Company's "Monthly Mini" program. This month was a "drop everything I've got to make this right now" kind of design. That's exactly what - [Quilting study](https://reproquiltlover.com/quilting-study/): This morning I read an interesting article written by Barbara Burnham in the May newsletter of the Baltimore Applique Society. She talked about quilting ideas for applique beyond the usual outline plus grid design and shared some good pictures. Since I am working on refolding my quilts I thought I'd study some of the quilting - [I'm on the bandwagon](https://reproquiltlover.com/im-on-the-bandwagon/): My friend Linda Collins - Quilts in the Barn - has started a bit of a phenomenon. It's called Panama Pyramids. It started with a pattern published in Quiltmania #94 of a scrappy antique triangles quilt from her collection (photo of original quilt is below and is used with permission from Linda). It has grown - [Four Patch Inspiration](https://reproquiltlover.com/four-patch-inspiration/): Last week I fell in love with a little quilt on Laundry Basket Quilts' Instagram feed. saved from @laundrybasketquilts on Instagram I didn't intend to reproduce it right away but I happened to notice a pan of four patches I've been making for another project. Surely, I wouldn't set myself back too much if - [WOW - WIPs on Wednesday - A Day Late](https://reproquiltlover.com/wow-wips-on-wednesday-a-day-late/): Do you ever find yourself needing to quilt? I mean NEEDING to do it. Like if you don't somebody might die? That's where I am this week. Everyone wants a piece of me, at home and at work. I usually relax by stitching for at least 15 minutes on an ongoing hand piecing project every - ["It's a nutcracker. To crack your nuts."](https://reproquiltlover.com/its-a-nutcracker-to-crack-your-nuts/): My daughter has recently returned home to live to save on costs while she attends graduate school. Her old room had become my quilt room and I now must turn it back over, thus necessitating a reduction in the quilt collection since there isn't another space large enough to house everything safely. Today I was - [Hand Quilting My Little Quilts](https://reproquiltlover.com/hand-quilting-my-little-quilts/): Quilting...hand or machine? As quilters, we make decisions, have our preferences, and our biases. These are individuals choices and when I speak about them I am strictly speaking about my own personal decisions, preferences and biases. There is no judgment about those of others. This is my disclaimer because I am going to talk about - [Elegant Geometry Exhibit - Taft Museum of Art - Post 1](https://reproquiltlover.com/elegant-geometry-exhibit-taft-museum-of-art-post-1/): Medallion quilt from the collection of the International Quilt Study Center & Museum 2008.040.0014 Seen at the Elegant Geometry exhibit at the Taft Museum of Art, Cincinnati, Ohio I like to give myself presents. After all, I know exactly what I want and I don't judge my own quilt obsession. In fact, I think - [I'm stitching](https://reproquiltlover.com/im-stitching/): I'm stitching as fast as I can which, unfortunately, is still pretty slow. This is block C-1 from a pattern called Worcester Beauty-A Maryland Album Quilt. It is an almost exact reproduction of a quilt in the collection of the DAR Museum (link to quilt images here) and was part of the extraordinary Eye on - [Still stitching...](https://reproquiltlover.com/still-stitching/): I've been stitching nearly every day but it's on the same project so I don't have anything in the way of results to share yet. Instead, let's focus on the process. Personally, I love a peek inside others' supply boxes and am very attached to my own little box of tools so I thought I'd - [More Doll quilts](https://reproquiltlover.com/more-doll-quilts/): Wow! I am overwhelmed by the response to the cheddar giveaway and the doll quilt show. There were so many more responses than I expected - plus Thanksgiving and a few of those unexpected life situations that pop up - that I am way behind in posting the photos that were sent to me and - [Giveaway winner and back to applique](https://reproquiltlover.com/giveaway-winner-and-back-to-applique/): The winner (at long last) of the little quilt giveaway is Judith (no blog) from the south end of Vancouver Island. I have your address so I'll be sending it off to you when I go back to the post office later this week. I promised myself I would make a challenging quilt in 2013 - [Would you like cheese on that?](https://reproquiltlover.com/would-you-like-cheese-on-that/): Of course! Everything looks better with cheddar. I've been saving 1-1/4" squares whenever I cut for a repro project and keep them in a little plastic box. When it starts to burst, I put together a little quilt. Many of my recent scrappy projects have been turning out a little too...well...scrappy. So, I tapped into - [That's three!!](https://reproquiltlover.com/thats-three/): My DD (my baby, even though she's grown) graduated from the University of Miami last weekend and I could not have been more proud. She is the bravest of all of us as she is the only one to venture so far away for college. Her adventurous spirit has taken her all over the U.S. - [A little finish and a new camera](https://reproquiltlover.com/a-little-finish-and-a-new-camera/): I just finished binding the little quilt I blogged about previously (but darn if I can find when it was, otherwise I'd link to it). It's another I had quilted by Bellwether. I hope you aren't getting tired of hearing me say that. I am on hiatus from antique quilt shopping (still antique quilt admiring, - [Another little quilt](https://reproquiltlover.com/another-little-quilt/): This is another finish thanks to the hand quilting service from Bellwether. This quilt is one from the mini of the month program (2010) at Temecula Quilt Company. It is a Lori Smith (From My Heart to Your Hands) design. I made a little change to the kit because I ran out of the colored - [Benjamin Biggs block #4](https://reproquiltlover.com/benjamin-biggs-block-4/): This is a very quick post to show that I finished another Benjamin Biggs block! This is number 4 and I am already stitching on block #5. I love red and green applique and the folky-ness of this pattern, so I am determined to see it through to the end - hopefully before the end - [My holy grail? Nearly!](https://reproquiltlover.com/my-holy-grail-nearly/): What do I like most in an antique quilt? Turkey red fabric, applique, great quilting, half square triangles, fleur-de-lis, excellent craftsmanship? Yes, yes, and yes some more. But most of all, I like a quilt that gives me a glimpse into the interpersonal relationships among individuals who shared sentiments of family and friendship. Today, I - [Vernal Equinox](https://reproquiltlover.com/vernal-equinox/): It's here! It's spring! It's snowing! Actually, it's a chilly but sunny spring day today but we did have a wintry day on the official vernal equinox. In spite of that I was cheery with my new quilt I bought from Bellwether Dry Goods. I've talked about Bellwether's quilting service in other posts but this - [And...one...more](https://reproquiltlover.com/and-one-more/): It's basketball season...March madness. The TV in my house is spouting the sound of fans cheering, sneakers squeaking, and announcers talking, talking, talking. My hubby likes tournament season but it drives me a bit mad. Still, some of it seeps into my head which is why I could not stop thinking, "and...one," after I finished - [Get off the quilts!](https://reproquiltlover.com/get-off-the-quilts/): This year I decided to enjoy the red and green quilts so I stacked them up on a trunk near our Christmas tree for all the world to see.
