Inspired by architecture

No quilt activity here but I was excited to see Kathie’s post today about quilting and applique inspiration she got from architecture on a trip to Boston.  I took this photo of part of a building in the Mt. Vernon section of Baltimore, Maryland.  I saw it in December while volunteering at the Maryland Historical Society and right after seeing some awesome mid-19th century applique quilts.  Wouldn’t this be wonderful as part of an applique border?

  1. I clearly came too late to your blog! How did I miss you? Love your cheddar posts; been shopping for the perfect cheddar quilt to make into a kit for my move. Thanks so much for your comment on my blog.

  2. It would be a beautiful border, Taryn! Do you have anything in mind for the middle of the quilt? In other words – do you already have plans for it or is it still on the back burner, perculating? (I checked and perculating is the correct spelling. I guess it's just an old word that Google doesn't recognize.)

  3. I enjoyed Kathie's blog about that too. I've got oodles of pix like that, tho' I can't say I've actually rendered any of them. GoTLAM (got to laugh at myself!) That detail would make a really pretty border. Those horns 'a plenty would be an unusual addition. cheers, Claire W.
